Full Job Description:

As an editorial assistant at Hunger Inc.’s, a digital food magazine, When you work in hospitality (The Bombay Canteen, O Pedro, and Bombay Sweet Shop), you’ll help create a brand-new digital food publication, collaborate closely with the editor, interact with some of the best writers and thinkers in the nation, meet people working in the food and beverage industry all over India, including chefs, restaurateurs, designers, and food entrepreneurs, and learn from a fun, talented, and knowledgeable team.

Working out of Mumbai (south), this position will be subordinate to the Editor-in-Chief.

Enthucutlet [en-thoo-kuht-lit] aims to challenge perceptions of Indian and South Asian cuisine. Enthu releases a new season every two months, just like your favorite Netflix program, with a theme that deepens stories about food cultures through engaging and thought-provoking concepts.

The publication, which will debut in November 2022, aspires to be insightful, cheeky, exploratory, and uplifting. We explore well-known food cultures to uncover new ones while experimenting with written, audio, and video formats. We question the myths we encounter that are based on custom and empower an authority on what Indian food is, what constitutes healthy eating, and how it keeps our food covered in an air of aspiration and unjustified judgment. We also look for stories outside of the major cities and venerable landmarks and share accounts from unexpected corners of our seemingly limitless continent and country.

 Responsibilities.
  •  Work with the EIC and the assistant editor to monitor editorial calendars and ensure that everything proceeds according to schedule from beginning to end.
  •  Organize copy, photos, profiles, and bios with hired writers.
  •  Perform editorial and clerical duties related to the publication and efficient operation of the magazine.
  •  As part of the editorial process, research and fact-check stories.
  •  To edit and proofread copy, adhere to the style manual.
  •  Write brief stories for sections like enthuGuides and enthuTimepass; conduct story interviews as necessary.
  •  In the days before publication, post our content to the website.
  •  Work with internal stakeholders like marketing and social media to coordinate production schedules in accordance with the production calendar.
  •  Ensure that contributors’ invoices are submitted on time and that the billing and payment procedures are adhered to.
  •  On the inboxes, reply to pitches and emails from readers.
 Requirements.
  •  strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  •  Excellent planning, research, and multitasking skills, as well as a keen eye for detail and deadlines.
  •  English, journalism, creative writing, or a related field at the bachelor’s degree level.
  •  3 to 4 years of media and/or project management experience.
  •  Knowledge of tools like Google Suite, Slack, and WordPress, as well as experience using editing and publishing software.
